Over the July 4th weekend, tragedy struck the Texas Hill Country when powerful flash floods overwhelmed the Guadalupe River, rising more than 26 feet in under an hour. Among the hardest hit was Camp Mystic, a cherished girls’ summer camp, where lives were lost and families forever changed. Our hearts go out to the entire Mystic community and all those impacted across the region.
Moments like these are reminders of both the fragility of life and the strength of community. As Texans come together in grief and recovery, we also look ahead — to prepare, to protect, and to build greater resilience in the face of future disasters.
